Paul Klee nasce a Berna nel 1876 da una famiglia di musicisti. Violinista professionista, la musica influenzerà tutta la sua vita e sarà fondamentale per la sua produzione artistica. Il giovane Klee non è attratto solo dalla mu­sica ma anche dalla letteratura legge moltis­simo, scrive poesie e tiene un diario dove trascrive tutte le sensazioni, gli studi e le esperienze fatte fino al 1918.
I diari, conservati al Centro Paul Klee, sono una fonte straordinaria di informazioni per comprendere la genesi della sua produzione artistica impregnata di arte, musica e letteratura. In essi, Klee, racconta le scoperte fatte nei viaggi in Italia e in Tunisia, fondamentali per la sua maturazione artistica. Musica e letteratura sono il leitmotiv del documentario; ai diari, letti dal nipote Alexander, si alternano brani di sonate per violino di Bach e di Hindemith eseguite dalla violinista Veronica Kadlubkiewicz. "In una serata per abbonati ho sentito il Concerto in re minore per pianoforte di Brahms, suonato da Frenné. Ne sono ancora tutto sconvolto." (

Paul Klee is born in Berne in 1876 to a family of musicians. Professional violinist, music will affect all his life and be fundamental for his artistic production. The young Klee is not only atttracted by music but also by literature. He reads widely, writes poetry and keeps a diary where he transcribes all his sensations, studies and experiences matured until 1918. The diaries, conserved at the Paul Klee Centre, are an extraordiary source of information to understand the genesis of his artistic production steeped in art, music and literature. In them, Klee relates the discoveries made in journeys in Italy and Tunisia, fundamental for his artistic matura­tion. Music and literature are the leit-motivs of the documentary; the diaries, read by his grandson Alexander, alternate with pieces from sonatas for violin by Bach and Hindemith performed by violinist Veronica Kadlubkiewicz. “In an evening for subscribers I heard Concerto in D minor for Piano by Brahms, played by Frenné.
